Davis Women’s Heart Center
The Davis Women’s Heart Center at Houston Methodist DeBakey Heart & Vascular Center is dedicated to advancing the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular disease in women. Heart disease is the leading cause of death for women, yet women are less likely to be screened, accurately diagnosed or treated early. Many women have never had their heart risk formally assessed, despite staying up to date on mammograms and gynecologic care. Our specialists collaborate to deliver a new standard of women-centered heart care: one that champions proactive screening, prevention and treatment.
Guided by nationally recognized leadership and backed by Houston Methodist’s experts in preventive cardiology, obstetrics and gynecology, metabolic health, and more, the center delivers specialized care tailored to the biological, hormonal and social factors that shape women’s heart health. We provide personalized cardiovascular assessments, targeted prevention strategies and advanced treatment for women across every stage of life — from young adulthood and pregnancy through menopause and beyond.
Personalized Care for Women’s Heart Health
At the Davis Women’s Heart Center, we are here for all women — from those with known heart disease or risk factors to women who simply want to understand their heart health. Our team is also here to support women after pregnancy-related complications — including preeclampsia or gestational diabetes, which can increase future cardiovascular risk significantly. Differences in biology, hormones and life events such as pregnancy and menopause can influence cardiovascular risk in ways standard heart care may not fully address.
The Davis Women’s Heart Center is designed to close those gaps — ensuring women receive the expert attention and care they deserve. Our goal is for every woman to feel heard, informed and confident in her heart health, and get the right diagnosis delivered with excellent care. Whether you are seeking preventive care or managing an existing heart condition, our team is here to support you with expertise in women’s heart care.

Focused heart care, guided by national leadership

Our team understands that women are not simply smaller versions of men. We tailor diagnostics, treatment strategies and prevention plans to reflect how heart disease uniquely affects women — ensuring earlier diagnosis, more precise care and improved patient experience.
Advancing knowledge and training the next generation of heart specialists
Research is central to improving women’s heart health. For decades, women have been underrepresented in cardiovascular studies, leaving critical gaps in knowledge. The Davis Women’s Heart Center expands research and clinical trials, focuses on female-predominant conditions and ensures women are included in the discovery pipeline.
The center’s educational team ensures that current and future health care professionals are equipped with comprehensive knowledge and practical skills to address the multifaceted cardiovascular needs of female patients. By translating discovery into practice, we are shaping the future of cardiovascular care for women worldwide.
Empowering women throughout our community
Education and outreach are essential to closing gaps in women’s cardiovascular care. At the Davis Women’s Heart Center, we engage the community through public education programs, clinician training and outreach initiatives to improve women’s heart health awareness. By empowering women with accurate, evidence-based information, the center fosters earlier detection, informed decision-making and long-term wellness.
