Cardiac Rehab

Unique to the community, Methodist West Houston Hospital offers the only physician-monitored cardiac rehabilitation facility in the area to continue treatment for heart patients recovering from heart attack, angioplasty/stent, stable angina, and open heart surgery.

Our cardiac rehab enables patients to build strength through individual exercise and learn about heart disease to reduce the risk of future cardiac events.

About Our Sessions

Exercise session

Exercise physiologists meet with patients for safe, closely monitored exercise classes. These sessions include a warm-up, 20-45 minutes of resistance training and a cool down period. During each session, the patient’s EKG is continuously monitored by telemetry and a blood pressure reading is taken before, during and after exercise. Each month, the patient’s physician is sent a progress report.
When: Classes are Monday, Wednesday and Friday

Length: Three one-hour exercise sessions per week for 12-18 weeks.

Educational classes

Professionals in the field of nutrition, pharmacy and exercise physiology educate and counsel patients to improve health long term.
