Message from the Program Director

Welcome, and thank you for visiting the website of the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Fellowship at Houston Methodist Hospital. We are excited to share our program with you. We have continued growth in our Inflammatory Bowel Disease Center where we now have four faculty specializing in the management of patients with IBD. The Houston Methodist Hospital itself is ranked among the country's top hospitals in 10 specialties in U.S. News & World Report's 2022 "Best Hospitals" issue, ranked as the No. 1 hospital in Texas with a national ranking of No. 8 in Gastroenterology and GI surgery.

Our faculty members are experienced clinicians, educators, and clinical researchers focused on the care of IBD. Our fellowship spans 12 clinical months with inpatient and outpatient experience. Our program is centered at Houston Methodist Hospital, a nearly 950 bed hospital. Our clinical team includes our faculty and gastroenterology fellows along with residents from the Houston Methodist Internal Medicine Residency and medical students from Texas A&M College of Medicine, from both the traditional program and our unique EnMed program.

The clinical training environment allows for a wealth of diverse clinical exposure, spanning the entire spectrum of inflammatory bowel disease from mild uncomplicated disease to severe refractory complex patients. Along with the inpatient experience managing acute severe ulcerative colitis and other hospitalized IBD patients, the IBD fellow will also spend significant time in the outpatient IBD clinic, including training in bowel ultrasound.

Should you have any additional questions, or need further clarification about the program, please do not hesitate to contact me or the fellowship coordinator.

Thank you for your interest in our program. We wish you every success in your future career.
