Graduate Medical Education

Houston Methodist Hospital has a long tradition of training physicians in various medical and surgical specialties. In April 2005, Houston Methodist Hospital received institutional accreditation from the ACGME. The development of the graduate medical education (GME) programs has been a great success. Houston Methodist sponsors 49 ACGME-accredited programs and non-ACGME programs.

Nursing

Houston Methodist's Nurse Residency program has been designed to take new baccalaureate-prepared nurse graduates beyond their formal education. A collaborative venture with the UHC/AACN Nurse Residency Programâ„¢, the program offers support to baccalaureate-prepared nurses by cultivating their leadership abilities and professional development.

Pharmacy

Houston Methodist’s Pharmacy residency programs are designed to enable pharmacy graduates to obtain the knowledge and skills needed to become leaders in pharmacy practice. Houston Methodist combines both a didactic and practical learning environment to train the pharmacy profession's future leaders through our residencies.

Physical Therapy

Houston Methodist is recognized as a leader in providing outstanding physical therapy services to our community. We offer a Critical Care Physical Therapy Fellowship, an Orthopedic Physical Therapy Residency and a Sports Physical Therapy Residency. Our goal is to provide the encouragement, the hands-on experience and the knowledge to help you become the next leader in the field of physical therapy.

Hand Therapy

The Houston Methodist Hand Therapy Residency program is a 12-month program for occupational therapists ready to advance their professional growth in the focused area of hand therapy. The program, in compliance with the residency program guidelines set forth by the American Occupational Therapy Association, strongly emphasizes mentoring, didactic education and refinement of clinical reasoning skills in an outpatient hand therapy setting.

Houston Methodist's administrative fellowships offer unparalleled opportunities for future health care leaders to gain experience in all aspects of a premier academic medical hospital system.

Pastoral Care

The Houston Methodist Hospital Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) program is accredited by the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education, Inc. to offer all levels of CPE (levels I and II, supervisory). The program has been in existence since 1967.
