Biography

Dr. Benjamin J. Lee graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Harvard College, where he was named a John Harvard Scholar and elected to the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society.  After obtaining his Doctorate of Medicine at Harvard Medical School, Dr. Lee completed internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. Dr. Lee subsequently completed his fellowship in Nephrology at UCSF while simultaneously obtaining a Master of Advanced Study in Clinical Research from the UCSF Departments of Epidemiology and Biostatistics. At UCSF, he was named the 2015-2016 ACGME Clinical Fellow of the Year in Nephrology and honored with a Teaching Excellence Award for Cherished Housestaff (TEACH) and the Andy I. Choi Memorial Scholarship.

Dr. Lee is Board-certified in both Internal Medicine and Nephrology. He is a Fellow of the American Society of Nephrology, an AHSCP Certified Hypertension Specialist, and a member of the American Society of Transplantation. He is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine at both Weill Cornell Medical College and the Houston Methodist Institute of Academic Medicine, as well as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Texas A&M University College of Medicine. Dr. Lee also works closely with the J.C. Walter Jr. Transplant Center at Houston Methodist Hospital to care for kidney transplant patients.

Dr. Lee is invested in medical education, regularly lecturing trainees at Houston Methodist Hospital in the medical and surgical intensive care units and teaching trainees who rotate with the practice. He serves on the Program Evaluation Committee for the Houston Methodist Internal Medicine Residency Program. Dr. Lee received a 2021 Faculty Development Award from the Texas A&M College of Medicine and a 2022 Clinical Scholar Award (Clinical Educator) from the Houston Methodist Academic Institute. Dr. Lee also serves on the Board of Trustees for KDSAP (Kidney Disease Screening and Awareness Program), an organization that fosters student career development and community outreach regarding chronic kidney disease.
