Description of Research

Develop a greater understanding of molecular mediators and moderators underlying neuroimmune interactions in co-morbid pain and depression. Develop a greater understanding of how personality/coping styles contribute to state and trait disparities in central and peripheral immune activation, and how these disparities impact pain states and depression. Develop novel research paradigms to translate robust findings from psychoneuroimmunology research in animal models to humans and subsequently, to develop more efficacious immune based treatment strategies in negative affective states.
