Surgical Services –

Sugar Land

Houston Methodist Sugar Land Hospital proudly serves Fort Bend and surrounding counties with advanced surgical services. Equipped with the latest state-of-the-art technology, our 27 OR suites are staffed with highly skilled physicians and nurses.

Houston Methodist Sugar Land is committed to providing exemplary care to our patients, which includes:

Highly Trained Staff. When a physician determines that a patient needs surgery, our specialty trained nurses and surgical technicians play a key role in their care and recovery. Our experienced and highly skilled staff assists with thousands of successful surgeries each year, ensuring that patient outcomes – as well as patient experiences – are excellent.

Robotics. Houston Methodist Sugar Land uses advanced robotic technologies such as the da Vinci XI® and SI Surgical Systems. These specialized, robotic surgical tools enable minimally invasive surgery, which results in less pain and scarring, diminished blood loss, shorter hospital stays and reduced recovery periods for a quicker return to daily activities.

AEM Instrumentation. Houston Methodist Sugar Land was the first to bring active electrode monitoring (AEM) instrumentation to Fort Bend County. This technology is an advanced monitoring system that shields patients from electrosurgical burns.

OR Disinfecting Done Right. Keeping our promise to provide a safe environment for our patients, Houston Methodist Sugar Land utilizes the latest technology in room disinfection. Our UV light technology provides a more effective and efficient way to properly sanitize and disinfect each operating room.

Hybrid Operating Rooms. Houston Methodist Sugar Land is home to the only hybrid ORs in Fort Bend County. Our hybrid ORs incorporate advanced technologies with traditional surgical capabilities to offer patients a new range of diagnostic and treatment procedures. Benefits include increased clarity and positioning of images, more rapid and advanced interventions, decreased treatment time and complications for our patients.

Expedited Access for Heart Care. The Heart & Vascular Center brings together all the hospital’s cardiac resources in a specially designed facility adjacent to our emergency room. The center includes a 19-bed observation unit — where patients are closely monitored by specially trained and experienced physicians, nurses and support staff — and four state-of-the-art cardiac catheterization labs. Our team of specialists include cardiologists, interventional cardiologists, cardiovascular/thoracic surgeons and cardiac anesthesiologists – most of whom worked in the Texas Medical Center for many years.

In a cardiac emergency, minutes count. Our facility is designed to quickly diagnose patients and carry out the proper course of treatment, all under one roof. In the event of a complication during a planned cath lab procedure, for example, other local hospitals would have to transport you by helicopter or ambulance to another facility, which takes away precious time, and can increase the damage to your heart.

Complimentary valet parking is available at our main entrance 6 a.m. – 7 p.m., M-F.
