The Positron Emission Tomography (PET) Facility at Houston Methodist offers a wide variety of highly customizable advanced imaging services including the production of cGMP grade radiopharmaceuticals and research-dedicated PET scanning of patients and large preclinical models using a state-of-the-art research-dedicated Siemens Vision PET/CT. The PET facility is fully equipped to perform kinetic modelling studies with arterial input function and correction for radiometabolites.

The production of radiopharmaceuticals is performed by the Cyclotron and Radiopharmaceutical Core in compliance with FDA regulatory requirements. There are several ongoing research studies involving novel tracers for imaging of brain tumors and neurodegenerative diseases. Additional novel radiopharmaceuticals which are in the pipeline will be helpful for imaging molecular processes involving inflammation and for specific protein detection such as tau. For more on the tracer production component of our core, visit the Cyclotron and Radiopharmaceutical Core.
