Magnet Recognition

Seven Houston Methodist Facilities are ANCC Magnet® Recognized.

Houston Methodist is proud to have all seven of its hospitals as designees of the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s (ANCC) Magnet Recognition Program®, which recognizes superior quality in nursing care as evidenced by performance outcomes.

 ANCC conducts thorough evaluations of hospitals seeking both initial recognition and re-designation, judging proficiency and leadership in the following five key areas that are considered global issues in nursing and health care:

 

  • Visionary leadership transforming the organization to meet changing needs
  • Empowered staff properly prepared to face all challenges
  • Competent, dedicated and empowered nurses
  • Continued innovation within staff knowledge, clinical practice and systemic improvements
  • Outcomes measurement systems in place throughout the entire organization


Vizient Leadership Award

In addition, all seven Houston Methodist acute care hospitals are top performers in the 2024 Bernard A. Birnbaum, MD, Quality Leadership Award annual rankings by Vizient, which provides a national hospital scorecard focused on safety and quality metrics. Six Houston Methodist hospitals made the top five in their respective surveys, and, for the first time, Houston Methodist Hospital finished in the top five in its cohort.

Vizient is an alliance of 107 academic medical centers and 234 of their affiliated hospitals from which we gather data to compare ourselves with other members and gauge our progress in achieving patient satisfaction.
