Elective (1 month each)
Electives may be selected, but not limited to:
  • Ambulatory Care (emphasis in Oncology)
  • Internal Medicine (advanced)
  • Neonatal Intensive Care
  • Neurology Acute Care
  • Transitions of Care

Residents may also repeat any learning experiences in which they have a particular interest.

Longitudinal
Each resident can complete longitudinal activities in:
  • ASHP Medication Safety Certificate
  • Teaching and Scholarship in Academia Certificate Program - University of Houston College of Pharmacy

Staffing
  • Staffing every other weekend in operational and clinical pharmacist roles
  • Residents will work one major and one minor holiday

Presentation Opportunities

  • Poster presentation at Vizient Resident Poster Session prior to ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting
  • Platform Presentation at Alcalde Southwest Leadership Conference and TSHP Conference

Project and Research Experience
  • Cost savings initiatives
  • Pharmacy medication safety and quality review initiatives
  • Major research project with guidance of a preceptor and the Pharmacy Research Committee
  • Medication use evaluation or quality analysis of existing protocols

Professional Meetings
  • ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting
  • TSHP Conference
