Marcie Lester

Marcie’s pituitary tumor was located in an area of the brain that is vital for normal brain function and vision. Left untreated, Marcie would potentially go blind as the tumor increasingly pressed against her optic nerve. The team at Houston Methodist Kenneth R. Peak Brain and Pituitary Tumor Treatment Center removed her tumor by minimally invasive surgery that used an extremely small endoscope to provide clear, magnified images of the operating field. The endoscope was used in tandem with a microscope to produce 3-D pictures of the tumor and surrounding structures. Marcie’s tumor was resected, abnormal tissue was removed and she returned to her normal routine without complications. Hear Marcie’s inspiring story .
