Doug Wood

When Doug Wood sustained severe head injuries in a bicycle accident, X-rays coincidentally revealed a significant tumor that was partially compressing his spinal cord. Although slow growing and benign, the tumor was located dangerously close to integral spinal cord functions; paralysis was an imminent risk. At Houston Methodist Kenneth R. Peak Brain and Pituitary Tumor Treatment Center , Dr. David Baskin  and his highly specialized neurosurgical team undertook the complex surgery to remove the invasive tumor. The operation required several hours of precise monitoring and delicate surgical technique to achieve a successful outcome. Here more about Doug’s story.
