Houston Methodist Baytown Longitudinal APPE Program
About Houston Methodist Baytown Hospital
Houston Methodist Baytown is a full-service, acute care, 340B hospital serving communities in Harris, Chambers, Liberty, and surrounding counties. Through the years, our hospital has grown with the community, enhancing and expanding technology and services every step of the way. With even further planned ongoing development of the campus starting in 2020, Houston Methodist Baytown will continue its mission of providing unparalleled safety, quality, service and innovation to the communities we serve for many years to come and will grow to a capacity of 400 beds. The state-of-the-art programs and services offered include minimally invasive robotic-assisted surgery, cancer care, heart and vascular, neurosciences, gastroenterology, orthopedics & sports medicine, and women’s health. Our pharmacy leadership team includes the pharmacy director, operational manager, clinical manager, and administrative assistant.
LAPPE students will have the opportunity to learn from Houston Methodist Baytown’s team of 10 clinical pharmacists and staff pharmacists through involvement in a broad range of clinical, scholarly, and service activities. Training experiences include patient counseling, completion of clinical consults, collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient care, and participation in elective rotations such as Critical Care, Infectious Diseases, Emergency Medicine, Cardiology, Oncology, Transitions of Care, Medication Safety, and Pharmacy Management. The program is designed to prepare student pharmacists to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care while reflecting Houston Methodist’s ICARE values (integrity, compassion, accountability, respect, and excellence).
