Mentee-2-Methodist Program

The Mentee-2-Methodist (M2M) High School Program is designed to introduce students at Cypress Woods High School to career opportunities in healthcare through structured mentorship, professional coaching, and internship opportunities.

It is a part-time experience with a 15-hour weekly schedule. This non clinical program is intended to foster interest in the fields of medicine and the broader healthcare industry. Participants will complete the program with an educational career pathways map that may ultimately guide them toward pursuing a future career at Houston Methodist.

Program Requirements

The program is two-pronged:

• A virtual mentor phase lasting 5 months: Jan. 2027 - May 2027
• A summer internship phase of 2 months: June 2027 - July 2027

The program requires a full commitment for the 7-month duration and is non-paid. The program is held at Houston Methodist Cypress Hospital Campus, located at 24500, Northwest Fwy, Cypress, TX, 77429.

Program Eligibility 

• Enrolled as a full-time high school student in junior year
• Have a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher (based on a 4.0 grading scale)
• Current student at Cypress Woods High School

*Transportation to Houston Methodist Cypress Hospital required

Application Requirements 

250–500-word letter of intent that includes:

• Personal statement of interest
• What you expect to gain from the program

Resume detailing the following:

• Extracurricular activities
• Awards/honors received
• Work or volunteer experience

Transcript and References

• Academic transcript (official or unofficial)
•  2 letters of recommendation
