All eight Houston Methodist acute care hospitals are top performers in Vizient's Bernard A. Birnbaum, MD, Quality Leadership annual rankings, which provide a national hospital scorecard focused on patient safety and quality metrics.

 

Houston Methodist Hospital finished No. 3 in its cohort for the second consecutive year — the hospital’s highest ranking. In addition, all seven Houston Methodist network hospitals ranked among the top 10 in their respective surveys, with two – Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital and Houston Methodist Baytown Hospital – ranked No. 1 in their respective cohorts.

Rankings-eligible hospitals are determined by the quality of patient care in six areas: safety, mortality, effectiveness, efficiency, patient centeredness and variation of care. This year’s results are as follows:

 

  • Houston Methodist Hospital — Ranked No. 3 out of 122, Comprehensive Academic Medical Centers
  • Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital — Ranked No. 1 out of 225, Large, Specialized Complex Care Medical Centers 
  • Complex Care Medical Centers cohort (out of 238 hospitals):
    • Houston Methodist Baytown Hospital — Ranked No. 1
    • Houston Methodist West Hospital — Ranked No. 2
    • Houston Methodist Cypress Hospital — Ranked No. 3
    • Houston Methodist The Woodlands Hospital — Ranked No. 4
    • Houston Methodist Sugar Land Hospital — Ranked No. 10
  • Houston Methodist Clear Lake Hospital — Ranked No. 4 out of 280, Community Hospitals
