Neurologic Physical Therapy Residency

Our Mission

The mission of Houston Methodist Hospital’s Neurologic Physical Therapy Residency is to provide an unparalleled post-graduate learning experience through high-quality mentorship and advanced clinical experiences. Participants will become exemplary providers of patient-centered, innovative, and evidence-based physical therapy to patients with neurologic diagnoses.

Program Overview

The Neurologic Physical Therapy Residency at Houston Methodist Hospital is a 12-month program that will provide residents with didactic and clinical learning across the continuum of care including ICU, acute care, inpatient rehab, and the outpatient setting. Outside of direct patient care, this resident will participate in clinical encounters in our various specialty areas, such as our neuromuscular disease clinics, multidisciplinary and multi-professional team observations, mentoring experiences with students, and opportunities to engage in research. The graduates of this program will be able to meet the complex needs of neurologic patients through patient-centered, holistic approaches. They will acquire the necessary skills to be one of the next leaders in physical therapy.

Located in the Texas Medical Center, Houston Methodist Hospital has been named the number one hospital in Texas for the last 13 years. In addition, residents will be working in a DNV-accredited Comprehensive Stroke Center and a U.S. News & World Report Honor Roll hospital, nationally ranked in 11 specialties.

The Neurologic Physical Therapy Residency faculty features a combination of board-certified neurologic specialists and Certified Stroke Rehabilitation Specialists with over 20+ years of teaching experience.
