Patient Safety

At Houston Methodist, our priority is to ensure a safe, high-quality experience for our patients. Although this is a unique situation due to increased traffic, larger crowds and the summer heat, our teams are prepared with enhanced safety measures in place. We encourage visitors to:

  • Stay aware of your surroundings while traveling to and from your vehicle or mode of transportation and while in the Houston community.
  • Stay cool and safe in the heat by taking frequent breaks in an air-conditioned space, staying hydrated, wearing lightweight/breathable clothing, and monitoring weather alerts for heat advisories.

 

If you are experiencing a medical emergency, please call 911 or proceed to a nearby emergency room.

 

Travel Screening

We expect to see more international travelers during this timeframe. Across Houston Methodist, you may see travel screening signage posted at entrances to our Emergency Departments, Emergency Care Centers and Same Day Clinics.

Soccer matches and fan events will increase traffic across the Greater Houston area. Whether you have an appointment on a game day or non-game day, we encourage you to allow for extra time on your commute and adjust your route as needed.

Texas Medical Center

 

Increased traffic and pedestrian activity are expected at Helix Park in the Texas Medical Center as well as Smith Lands South Parking Lot near Houston Stadium throughout the month, with thousands of people participating. While streets will remain open, these events may contribute to congestion, particularly near event and stadium routes on the following days:

  • Sunday, June 14 – 2 to 8 p.m.
  • Saturday, June 20 – 7:30 to 10:30 a.m.
  • Tuesday, June 23 – 7 to 11 a.m.
  • Friday, June 26 – 4 to 7 p.m.
  • Monday, June 29 – 9 a.m. to noon

 

Sugar Land

 

In addition, increased traffic and pedestrian activity are expected during the Official FIFA World Cup 2026™ Houston Watch Parties at Sugar Land Town Square.
