Pharmacy Student Education

Houston Methodist Hospital (HMH) is a private, non-profit teaching hospital located in the Texas Medical Center with an average census of about 900 patients. The HMH Department of Pharmacy provides over 200 Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience (APPE) rotations annually and has primary academic affiliations with select pharmacy schools:

  • Texas A&M University
  • University of The Incarnate Word
  • Lebanese American University


HMH also has out-of-state affiliations:

APPE rotations are offered in many fields:

  • Drug information
  • Emergency department
  • General medicine
  • Hematology/oncology
  • Hospital institutional

  • Neurology
  • Solid organ transplant
  • Women's health


If a university is interested in establishing an affiliation agreement, they should contact us to start the process, which can take several months.


If a student from a university with an established affiliation is interested in obtaining a rotation at HMH, they will need to obtain the appropriate paperwork from their school and have their school contact us about availability of rotations.


Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experience (IPPE) rotation requests will be considered on an individual basis and should be sent to Sara Tarver:
