Neurourology and Transitional Urology Clinic

Transitional Urology | SPG | Houston Methodist
Houston Methodist Neurourology and Transitional Urology Clinic was formally established in 2012 to aid the transition of children and adolescents with neurogenic bladder or genitourinary congenital anomalies to an adult urological team dedicated to long term care.

There are many challenges children with congenital genitourinary anomalies face as they grow from children and adolescents into adulthood. During this transition, renal failure remains the most common cause of complications, but pulmonary and cardiac disease become more common, and there is an increased risk of atherosclerosis.

At Houston Methodist Urology Associates, our Neurourology and Transitional Urology Clinic team has many years of clinical experience and specialized training backed by ongoing research in leading-edge care. We have significant expertise in the following:

  • Anatomical/congenital anomalies
  • Reconstructive urology
  • Urinary diversion
  • Robotic surgery
  • Long-term effects of prior interventions/surgeries
  • Spina bifida urology
  • Adult spina bifida

In addition, our team serves patients with neurourological issues or urinary complaints caused by:
  • Diabetes
  • Multiple sclerosis
  • Neurogenic bladder
  • Spinal cord injury
  • Stroke
