About Kate Marder
Kate Marder (she/her) is a licensed professional counselor with supervisor status (LPC-S) and art therapy specialty and she is a board-certified art therapist (ATR-BC). She is also a certified psychiatric rehabilitation practitioner (CPRP), which describes an area of practice that focused on assisting clients with mental illness participate in meaningful roles within their chosen communities. Additionally, Kate is a certified 200-hr yoga teacher and is also trained in chair yoga. Kate co-authored the book Mentalizing in Group Art Therapy; Interventions for Emerging Adults based on a group she developed and co-lead with another art therapist, Kula Moore. In addition to art therapy and mind/body integrative practices, Kate has received training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mentalizing, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, Mindful Self-Compassion, and DBT skills. She is currently working on a certification in perinatal mental health. Kate spends most of her time with her family and loves to go on adventures around Houston and beyond. She enjoys painting, fiber arts, reading, listening to podcasts, watching TV, and spending time in nature.
