Houston Methodist Baytown Hospital is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Apoorv Broor as its new chief medical officer and chief quality officer. Broor assumed the role in March of this year to provide oversight for medical staff services as well as clinical quality outcomes and their patient safety program. Prior to this role, Broor served as medical director of the Houston Methodist Baytown hospitalist team, a group of physicians who serve admitted hospital patients.

“It is an honor to work alongside such a dedicated team of leaders, physicians and staff to provide safe, high-quality care,” said Broor. “Everyone at Houston Methodist Baytown is steadfast in our focus on patient safety measures such as maintaining excellent hand hygiene practices, reducing preventable infections and optimizing outcomes. We are continuously enhancing care coordination through improving communication between providers and families. Our patients are at the core of everything we do,” Broor continued. “We remain ever vigilant about protocols such as medication barcode scanning and safety checklists to excel in all areas related to quality.”

By prioritizing the patient in every aspect of its operations and practices, Houston Methodist Baytown delivers outstanding health outcomes, Broor said, and continues to achieve recognition for its quality performance, including:

  • The Bernard A. Birnbaum, M.D. Quality Leadership Top Performer Ranking for three consecutive years from Vizient Inc., the nation’s largest health care performance improvement company that measures the delivery of excellent care by the hospital’s team of physicians, nurses, and staff
  • The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) five-star rating for excellence and safety of care
  • An “A” Hospital Safety Grade from the Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit organization that upholds patient safety standards in health care facilities

“Dr. Broor’s passion for medicine and his commitment to providing unparalleled quality care has been evident since he joined our hospital,” said Adrienne Joseph, chief executive officer of Houston Methodist Baytown. “He is an experienced and compassionate leader and I know his efforts will ensure we continue to deliver safe, high-quality care for this community.”

Broor is a graduate of Maulana Azad Medical College in Delhi, India. He conducted a year of gastroenterology research at John Hopkins University and completed his residency in internal medicine at Good Samaritan Hospital of Maryland. Broor holds an MBA in health care from the Alliance for Physician Leadership at UT Dallas Naveen Jindal School of Management.
