Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital has scored an “A” safety rating in the Spring 2022 Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade. This recognition marks the 20th time Houston Methodist Willowbrook has received a top score – earning straight “A’s” since fall 2012.

“This award reflects our commitment to patient safety, as well as our vision to be nationally recognized for superior care and exceptional service,” said Keith Barber, CEO of Houston Methodist Willowbrook and Senior Vice President of Houston Methodist. “It takes dedication and focus from everyone – whether they work at the bedside or at a desk – to earn this grade consistently, and our staff has gone above and beyond during one of the most challenging times in health care. This is a team achievement that should make us all incredibly proud.”

The Leapfrog Group, an independent national watchdog organization, assigns a letter grade to general hospitals across the country based on over 30 national performance measures reflecting errors, accidents, injuries and infections, as well as systems hospitals have in place to prevent harm. The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the only hospital ratings program based exclusively on hospital prevention of medical errors and harms to patients. The grading system is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public.

“As our health care system continues to feel the strain of the pandemic, I thank the workforce and leadership of Houston Methodist Willowbrook for sustained commitment to patient safety, day in and day out,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “An ‘A’ Safety Grade is an outstanding achievement, and one that is not possible without a 24/7 effort by the entire health care workforce to protect patients from harm. This community should be proud.”
