Houston Methodist The Woodlands Hospital received an ‘A’ safety rating in the spring 2022 Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade. This recognition marks the sixth time this premier health care facility has received a top score — earning consecutive straight “A’s” since fall 2019.

“Safety is paramount to our vision of providing unparalleled care for our patients and we go to great lengths to ensure they are protected at every stage of their care journey,” said Debbie Sukin, CEO of Houston Methodist The Woodlands Hospital and regional senior vice president, Houston Methodist. “Earning this designation validates the commitment and efforts of our entire health care team to lead medicine in greater north Houston by keeping excellence in safety, quality and innovation at the forefront of everything we do.”

The Leapfrog Group, an independent national watchdog organization, assigns A, B, C, D and F letter grades to general hospitals across the country based on over 30 national performance measures reflecting errors, accidents, injuries, and infections, as well as systems hospitals have in place to prevent harm.

The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the only hospital ratings program based exclusively on hospital prevention of medical errors and harms to patients. The grading system is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually, in the fall and spring.

“An ‘A’ Safety Grade is an outstanding achievement and one that is not possible without a 24/7 effort by the entire health care workforce to protect patients from harm,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “This community should be proud.”
