Blood Donation
Share the Gift of Life — Donate Blood
The Eileen Murphree McMillin Blood Center at Houston Methodist Hospital transfuses more than 50,000 blood components each year to support the needs of patients with cancer, blood disorders and a host of other conditions, as well as those undergoing surgical procedures. When you make a blood donation, you give a gift of life to others who depend on your generosity.
One donation can save up to three lives.
The Blood Center is located at 6565 Fannin Street, on the eighth floor of the Fondren building, in room F811. It is open Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Blood donations are by appointment only. If you are scheduling a whole blood or platelet donation, you can book an appointment online by clicking here. Walk-ins are welcome and will be accommodated based on availability.
If your physician has prescribed blood removal as part of your treatment plan — for example, for conditions like hemochromatosis or polycythemia — you are considered a therapeutic phlebotomy patient and you must schedule your appointment online by clicking here. Please note: Your appointment is not confirmed until we review and approve your physician's orders. A team member will contact you once your appointment is verified.
If you need a special collection, please call our center directly at 713.441.3415 to schedule an appointment. These collections require additional medical review and coordination prior to booking. Special collections include:
- Autologous donation (you are donating blood for yourself, usually before surgery), or
- Designated donation (you are donating blood specifically for someone you know),
Please call 713.441.3415 to schedule a donation appointment.
