How to Apply

  1. Download the Application

    • ACPE Application for Clinical Pastoral Education (English)

  2. Review the Annual Notice
    As required by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), please read the Annual Notice from ACPE.

  3. Complete the Application

    • Follow the instructions on page 2 of the application carefully.
    • When submitting by email, combine all documents into one PDF file.
    • If submitting by mail, do not print double-sided or staple your documents.

Admission Process

  1. Submit Application & Fee

    • Include a nonrefundable $25 application fee.
    • Accepted payment methods: Cash, check, money order, or cashier’s check (payable to Houston Methodist Hospital).
  2. Interview

    • Participate in a virtual interview with CPE faculty, staff chaplains, and members of the professional advisory group.
    • Alternatively, a written report from an interview with an ACPE Certified Educator at another center may be accepted.
  3. Acceptance & Confirmation

    • If accepted, you’ll receive a formal letter of acceptance.
    • Confirm your spot by signing and returning the letter with a $50 deposit.
  4. Hospital Application & Onboarding

    • You’ll receive a link to apply for the hospital position.
    • Approximately 30 days before the program begins, you’ll receive onboarding instructions.
