About Dr. Waqas Qureshi
"I specialize in the health of the heart, blood vessels, blood pressure, metabolism, cholesterol problems and valve problems. I use advanced techniques and procedures to treat simple and complex patients with cardiac problems. I partner with my patients by giving them knowledge and understanding as well as ensuring that they receive the world class care here at Houston Methodist hospital."
Dr. Qureshi received his MBBS at the University of Health Sciences in Lahore Pakistan in 2007. Dr. Qureshi was an internal medicine resident and chief resident at Henry Ford/Wayne State University in Detroit, graduating in 2013. After residency, He moved to Winston Salem, North Carolina to simultaneously begin his Master of Science degree and his cardiology fellowship at Wake Forest University. In 2015, he completed his MS Magna Cum Laude in Clinical, Translational and Population Sciences, then he completed his fellowship in 2017 and an interventional/structural fellowship also at Wake Forest University in 2018. He joined the faculty of the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in 2018 and was an Associate Professor of Medicine and Radiology and served as Director of Advanced cardiac Imaging, and as Associate Director of the structural heart program. He is currently enrolled at the Isenberg School of Business in Amherst, MA and is an MBA candidate this year.
Dr. Qureshi is an experienced interventional, vascular, and structural cardiologist. He performs a wide range of procedures and has a strong background in managing complex cases. He is passionate about patient safety and patient satisfaction. In addition to his interventional and structural heart expertise, he is well versed in many facets of CV imaging.
Dr. Qureshi has over 150 peer reviewed publications, over 200 scientific abstracts at national and international conferences, over 20 scientific oral presentations and 8 book chapters. He has received many awards throughout his years as a physician, resident, and fellow, such as best intern award, Young Investigator Award by European Society of Cardiology, best cardiovascular resuscitation poster at the AHA, top 10 doctors of Detroit, patient’s choice award, Best of the Best Abstract Award by Society of Coronary Angiography and Intervention– among many others.
In his spare time, Dr. Qureshi enjoys traveling internationally, canoeing, BBQing, and spending time with his wife and daughters!
