The Fall Scholars Program, administered by the Office of Culture & Engagement, is an eight-week, hands-on initiative specifically for individuals with disabilities ages 18-35. The program provides participants experience in non-clinical health care careers and aims to broaden career perspectives, enhance skills and support career growth within the health care industry.

Program Requirements
The Fall Scholars Program requires a 20-hour per week part-time commitment over the 8-week duration for individuals with disabilities. In-person attendance is mandatory, with no scheduled days off except for the Thanksgiving holiday.
Program Eligibility
- Identify as a person with a disability between the ages of 18-35
- Applicants must be able to work with limited support and perform essential job functions with reasonable accommodation, as needed.
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Only U.S. citizens, Legal Permanent residents and Foreign Nationals who already hold a legal visa status (F-1, J-1, EADs) are eligible for the program.
- Applicants can be registered to attend a U.S. based school or program that can include a university, a community or technical college, a skills-based transition program, a non-degree seeking inclusive college program, an apprenticeship or trade school. You do not need to be a traditional degree-seeking student.

Application Requirements
250–500-word letter of intent that includes:
- Personal statement of interest explaining why you would like to pursue a future in health care
- What you expect to gain from your scholarship experience
Resume detailing the following:
- Activities in which you participate, or organizations you belong to (church groups, athletics, school, community, etc.)
- Awards/honors you have received
- Work or volunteer experience
- Resume must be sent to cultureandengagement@houstonmethodist.org
Two (2) reference letters:
- One must a be professional reference (i.e., teacher, employer, adviser, counselor or mentor) whom you have known for at least six months or more.
