Hundreds of Katy residents gathered for “A Night of Positively Pink,” a breast cancer awareness event hosted by Houston Methodist West Hospital on Friday, Oct. 21 at LaCenterra at Cinco Ranch. This free community event helped increase awareness around breast cancer in a fun, family-friendly environment.

“One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime,” said Kim Collins, director of the Houston Methodist Cancer Center at West. “This means that almost everyone in our community has been touched by cancer in some way—so it’s important to come together as a community for support and education,” said Collins.

During the three-hour event, attendees had the opportunity to receive breast health information, enjoyed live music by the band Shockwave and receive free giveaway items and snacks including cotton candy, compliments of Berripop Frozen Yogurt.

Houston Methodist West Hospital provides services that range from cancer prevention and diagnosis to advanced treatments. It also offers second opinions, clinical trials, genetic testing and support groups, all at a location conveniently close to home.
