About Houston Methodist Willowbrook

Houston Methodist Willowbrook is a large tertiary care 358-bed hospital that is well known as the leading healthcare provider in the Northwest Houston area. Our fast-growing campus features different specialty centers, including DeBakey Heart and Vascular Center, Childbirth Center, Spine Center, Houston Methodist Orthopedics & Sports Medicine, Cancer Center and Breast Care Center. We provide patient-focused and highest quality healthcare as evidenced by multiple awards and recognitions such as designation as a Magnet hospital by the American Nurses Credentialing Center and recognition by U.S News & World Report as one of the best hospitals in Texas.

In collaboration with the healthcare team, the Department of Pharmacy provides quality comprehensive clinical services to a wide spectrum of patients across various service lines, including cardiology, oncology, neurology, women’s health, neonatology, orthopedics and general surgery. The pharmacy team is continuously relied upon by the medical staff to provide specialized pharmacy services through a variety of pharmacist-managed consults to ensure quality and safe medication use throughout the continuum of care. Our robust transition of care program includes an active Meds-to-Bed program serviced by the Houston Methodist System Specialty Pharmacy, located at the Willowbrook Campus. In addition to providing care to inpatients, the department services the busiest on-site Emergency Department within the Houston Methodist System, Infusion Center, Outpatient Surgery Center, and two off-site Emergency Care Centers. LAPPE students will benefit from involvement in longitudinal projects/research and work directly with experienced pharmacists and attending physicians in an environment that fosters collaboration, mentorship, and publication opportunities. The pharmacy staff is comprised of our director, 2 managers, 3 pharmacy administrative specialists, 12 clinical pharmacists, 18 staff pharmacists, and 30 certified pharmacy technicians.
