Birth Certificates and Social Security Cards
You will receive birth certificate and Social Security number applications for your baby. You can order a certified copy of your child's birth certificate at the registrar's office in the city or county where the birth occurred or from the Texas Vital Statistics office in Austin.
Your child’s birth information will be forwarded to the Social Security Administration after the Texas Vital Statistics office receives it from the hospital. A Social Security card will be sent to your address.
