Rendezvous with
Houston Methodist

Through the leadership of exceptional chairs and pioneering honorees, Houston Methodist’s biennial fundraising gala was a remarkable success, raising $2,587,401 for research, education and patient care in the system’s seven hospitals.

Chairs Cam and Rod Canion and Elizabeth and Peter Wareing guided Rendezvous with Houston Methodist to its record-setting achievement, which was announced to the 1,300-plus crowd by Houston Methodist President and CEO Dr. Marc L. Boom.

The gala was highlighted by recognition of four honorees who have made an indelible mark on Houston Methodist and the history of health care in our community — Emily A. Crosswell, the John S. Dunn Foundation, Occidental Petroleum Corporation and Sanford I. Weill. They were celebrated by their friends, family and closest colleagues in a video presentation introduced by master of ceremonies, FOX 26 morning anchor Melissa Wilson.

Wilson's connection to the Houston health care community was developed through years of covering the medical beat. It became personal when her son, Caleb, was diagnosed with leukemia in 2013. During the event she shared her story and then interviewed the Houston Astros’ Jed Lowrie during a special guest appearance. As an infielder, Lowrie has firsthand experience with Houston Methodist as it is the official health care provider for the Houston Astros.

As a nod to Houston Methodist's bright future, Chapman Dance entertained the crowd with colorful cubes, symbolic of Houston Methodist’s building blocks for the future. The evening closed with show band Professor D providing dance tunes.
