Methodist Internship Longitudinal experience (MILE) Program

The MILE Program is an exclusive three-year opportunity available to a select number of highly-qualified students currently in their second semester of their first professional year of pharmacy school. The first two years of the internship will focus on learning the intricacies of pharmacy operations and leading longitudinal pharmacy initiatives under the mentorship of department leaders. The final year of the internship will transition into clinically focused activities and longitudinal projects. This internship will provide practical pharmacy experience to supplement your Doctor of Pharmacy didactic curriculum and jump start your future career as a pharmacist.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
  • Must be a P1 student from an accredited College of Pharmacy
  • P1 students from University of Houston or Texas Southern University are preferred due to the weekly year-round work commitments required during the three-year internship outlined below

WORK COMMITMENTS

  • P2: At least two 8-hour shifts every 2 weeks during school semester and winter break; 6 shifts per two weeks during summer break
  • P3: At least two 8-hour shifts every 3 weeks during school semester and winter break; 6 shifts per two weeks during summer break
  • P4: At least two 8-hour shifts every 3 weeks throughout the entire year
  • All interns: Work one major and one minor holiday per calendar year, attend monthly in-person MILE intern meetings, and project time should not exceed 8 hours per two week pay period

APPLICATION TIMELINE

  • Application submission opens January 1st
  • Completed application due by March 1st
  • Interviews will take place late March
  • Positions will be offered to candidates by April 15th
  • Start date is early June
