Need more information before trying Houston Methodist Virtual Urgent Care?

How much does a Virtual Urgent Care visit cost?

Virtual Urgent Care visits are just $50, payable with a credit card. Alternatively, you can also use your insurance by selecting one of the listed options at the start of your visit, and entering your information. If you are using insurance, you may be responsible for any associated copays or deductibles (if applicable). Any labs, tests or prescriptions ordered are not included in the cost of your visit.

Who are the providers who will see me in Houston Methodist Virtual Urgent Care?

You will be matched to a Houston Methodist provider for your virtual care visit. You will receive the same quality care that you would expect from an in-person visit.

I need a primary care physician (PCP). Can I use Houston Methodist Virtual Urgent Care instead?

Houston Methodist Virtual Urgent Care is intended for non-emergent, urgent care needs. It is a great solution when you need to see a provider quickly, but should not replace your primary care physician for ongoing wellness. To schedule an in-office visit with a PCP, please contact the Houston Methodist Primary Care Group Scheduling Center at 713.394.6724.

Is there an age limit for patients to use this service?

You must be at least 18 years of age to establish an account with Houston Methodist Virtual Urgent Care. Providers can see patients as young as 2 years of age. If your child is under 2, call your pediatrician or visit our urgent care partner, Next Level Urgent Care.

Will I get to choose the provider when I use Virtual Urgent Care?

When you start your video visit, you will be assigned a Houston Methodist provider. You do not get to choose your provider.

Can I get a prescription from a virtual care visit?

A provider will recommend the best treatment for your condition, which may include a prescription if necessary. Chronic pain cannot be treated with controlled drugs, such as narcotic pain medications, via video visit.

What if I need a follow-up appointment?

During your appointment, a provider will assess your condition and, in some cases, may recommend you schedule an in-person visit for a complete diagnosis. Additionally, a follow-up appointment or referral to a specialist may be recommended. If an additional appointment is needed, your provider will notify you during your visit.

Where should I take my virtual appointment?

To receive the best care, we recommend taking your appointment from a quiet, private location that is convenient for you. This may include your home, a parked car or your office. We do not recommend taking your appointment from a moving vehicle or in a public location.

How does free prescription delivery with HEB work?

Patients must designate an HEB pharmacy as their preferred pharmacy for the provider, then initiate the medication delivery by calling their local HEB pharmacy. Same-day delivery is available for prescriptions that are called in by 3pm. Someone must be home to receive the medication.

How long does a video visit last?

Video visits typically last around 10 to 15 minutes.

Is the app secure?

Houston Methodist Virtual Urgent Care uses secure, encrypted technologies that comply with all HIPAA regulations to keep your patient information secure.
