Houston Methodist Sugar Land Hospital continues to look for ways to protect patients, employees and the community during the COVID-19 pandemic. Houston Methodist Orthopedics & Sports Medicine is expanding its walk-in orthopedic injury clinic services to include care for chronic patients along with those who need to see an orthopedic specialist right away, providing same-day care for Fort Bend and surrounding counties.

Keeping patient safety at the forefront, the orthopedic injury clinic’s extended hours will help patients avoid the emergency room as well as ease the influx of patients in the emergency room. Beginning immediately, the orthopedic injury clinic is extending its hours to Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

“The walk-in clinic is ideal for patients of all ages who have suffered an injury or are dealing with chronic pain –doing projects around the house or playing sports with children – who need to see an orthopedist right away,” said Carl A. Hicks, M.D., board-certified orthopedic surgeon at Houston Methodist Orthopedics & Sports Medicine at Sugar Land. “Especially during the COVID-19 crisis, the clinic is a great option to help meet our patients’ needs quickly and efficiently, while also helping them avoid the busy emergency room — all at the cost of a standard physician office visit.”

The clinic team treats patients suffering from chronic pain, acute orthopedic injuries such as sprains or strains, minor dislocations, fractures or broken bones, sports injuries, torn ligaments, injured tendons, painful or swollen joints or possible concussions. However, injuries covered under worker’s compensation plans or those suffered in automobile accidents, as well as all spine and back problems, will require scheduling an appointment with a physician. All Houston Methodist Orthopedic & Sports Medicine physicians are offering virtual visits. You can visit houstonmethodist.org/orthopedics-sl or easily call the office 281.275.0555.

The walk-in clinic is located inside Houston Methodist Orthopedics & Sports Medicine’s state-of-the-art patient care facility on the Houston Methodist Sugar Land Hospital campus, 16811 Southwest Fwy., Suite 200. They will accept most forms of insurance, and no appointments are necessary. Patients can also schedule a telemedicine appointment with the clinic physicians or speak with a provider through virtual urgent care.
