Volunteer Opportunities at Clear Lake Hospital
Houston Methodist Clear Lake Hospital welcomes volunteers of all ages — young adults, adults and senior citizens. Volunteers are an essential part of our health care team, helping us deliver compassionate, world-class care to our patients. As a values-based organization, we choose individuals with a strong work ethic who possess personal values of integrity, compassion, accountability, respect and excellence.
Our program offers volunteers many rewarding and meaningful opportunities to interact with patients, assist staff or provide clerical or administrative support to various departments. Creative placement and flexible scheduling allows each new volunteer to pursue his or her special interests, using individual skills and talents to make a positive difference in the lives of our patients, families, staff and fellow volunteers. By volunteering at Houston Methodist Clear Lake, many people have enriched their own lives while serving a vital role in the local community and helping others.

Information volunteers answer telephones while using the computer to locate patients' rooms and phone numbers. Volunteers direct visitors to patient rooms and other locations and assist guests by answering a wide variety of questions.
Volunteers assist the office staff by answering phones, copying, running errands and performing other jobs and special job-related duties as requested. Volunteers are positioned in hospital offices such as human resources and medical records.
Patient Services Volunteer
Volunteers interact with patients in many different ways by visiting patients, distributing water and meal trays, passing out patient information pamphlets and giving flowers to new patients.

Volunteer Requirements and How to Apply
Applicants for volunteering must meet basic requirements, including a background check and Houston Methodist Clear Lake’s health and immunization standards. At the time of your interview, you will be asked to provide written permission for a standard background check to be conducted. Selected volunteers must obtain a TB test and drug screen from our employee health clinic and attend an orientation class. All volunteers are asked to agree to a commitment of at least one four-hour shift per week. Unless negotiated otherwise, a typical term of service is for one year, or a minimum of 150 hours.
