Houston Methodist Department of Neurology
Dr. Yuvraj Heir earned his medical degree from Windsor University School of Medicine, on the beautiful island of St. Kitts and Nevis. He went on to complete his Transitional Year (Internal Medicine) and Neurology residency at Wayne State University School of Medicine at the Detroit Medical Center, in Detroit Michigan.
During his residency, he was involved in starting one of the nation’s first ’Epilepsy and Pregnancy’ registry, which studied the effects of anti-epileptic drugs on women during pregnancy. The results and data from this registry are being continuously published and presented at several Neurology Conferences around the world.
Dr. Heir then completed a combined fellowship in epilepsy and neuromuscular medicine, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. At Vanderbilt, he was involved in multiple clinical trials to develop and evaluate the safety and efficacy of several anti-epileptic drugs (AEDs).
Dr. Heir is a fellowship-trained neurologist and he looks forward to providing a full spectrum of neurologic care to the community. Some of the areas he provides services for include, but are not limited to, epilepsy and seizures, spine and neuropathy, multiple sclerosis, dementia and memory issues, concussion and traumatic brain injury management, stroke, headaches and migraine management, Parkinson’s disease and tremors.
In his free time, he spends time with his family and travels to different parts of the world. He is an avid runner and looks forward to educating his patients on the great benefits of cardio for the human body. He believes in making healthy food choices and how certain foods can impact a patient’s overall neurological health.
Through the unique partnership between Houston Methodist and Cornell University, he looks forward to bringing the benefits of leading-edge medicine to The Woodlands community and the Greater Houston area.
