Dr. Yee Lee Cheah joined the J.C. Walter Jr. Transplant Center at Houston Methodist Hospital in 2022. She graduated with honors from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in 2000 and obtained her AFRCS, Ireland, in 2003. She completed her General Surgery Residency at the Brown University Program in Providence, Rhode Island in 2008, and her ASTS accredited fellowship in Transplantation & Hepatobiliary Surgery at the Lahey Clinic in 2010.
Dr. Cheah joined the Asian American Liver Centre at Gleneagles Hospital, the largest adult living donor liver transplantation (LDLT) center in South East Asia before returning to LHMC in 2017 to develop the LDLT and robotic surgery programs. She specializes in living donor liver transplantation, robotic transplantation and HPB surgery for benign and malignant disorders, and nutrition therapy of surgical patients. Her main research interests are in the areas of living donor safety, and robotic surgery.
Dr. Cheah has been faculty at Brown University and Tufts University, USA (2003-current) and Adjunct Assistant Professor at National University Singapore (2013-2014). She has served on multiple hospital and national committees at LHMC, UNOS and the International Liver Transplant Society (ILTS) since 2011. In addition, she was a founding member of the Hepatopancreatobiliary Association of Singapore and the Singapore Society of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (SingSPEN).
