About Dr. Veena Chandrakar
"As a medical oncologist and hematologist, my approach to care is to diagnose and treat patients in a systematic approach by using testing for next gen sequencing and identifying targeted treatment, when possible, to their disease. With the use of research and clinical trials where beneficial and the use of the current standard treatments, my goal is to give each patient the best treatment options available."
Dr. Veena Chandrakar is a board-certified Medical Oncologist and Hematologist with a focus on breast cancer, GI malignancies and hematologic malignancies but also sees the majority of disorders in her specialty. In addition, she focuses on genetic testing for hereditary malignancies; monitors and councils patients that are considered a high risk for breast cancer.
Dr. Chandrakar earned her medical degree from St. George's University School of Medicine, her internship at New York Methodist Hospital, her residency from MCP Hahnemann University Hospital and completed her fellowship in Medical Oncology and Hematology at Georgetown University Hospital.
She has served on several leadership committees, such as Chair of Cancer Committee, Chair of Peer Review, as well as several other committees. Dr. Chandrakar has been recognized by the Houstonian magazine as one of Top Doctors in 2018 and 2019.
