Sylvia Martinez, MD, serves as Division Chief of General and Emergency Surgery and a leader in Surgical Critical Care at Houston Methodist. She holds the Barbara Lee Bass Centennial Chair for Surgical Education in the Department of Surgery and is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Surgery at the Academic Institute. Dr. Martinez also serves as Program Director of the General Surgery Residency in the Department of Surgery. Dr. Martinez graduated from the University of Texas Medical School at Houston, followed by residency at Houston Methodist Hospital.
