Effective December 31, 2022, Dr. Segundo Robert-Ibarra will no longer practice with Houston Methodist Psychiatry/ Behavioral Health.
A medical records release is not required for patients who choose to continue receiving care from another Houston Methodist Psychiatry/ Behavioral Health provider. Patients should contact the office at 346.238.2040 for any questions regarding future treatment needs or to make an appointment with one of Dr. Robert-Ibarra’s colleagues in the Psychiatry/ Behavioral Health practice at Houston Methodist Hospital.
Patients who would like to request a copy or transfer of medical records may contact the Medical Records Department at 713.394.6428. Please keep in mind, it may take up to fifteen (15) business days for records to be released.
Dr. Robert-Ibarra is a general child and adolescent psychiatrist in the Department of Psychiatry at Houston Methodist. Dr. Robert-Ibarra has extensive experience in the comprehensive assessment and treatment of severe mental health conditions, including personality disorders, psychotic disorders, mood disorders, and trauma. He has particular interests in how developmental science can help us understand why people suffer and communicate therapeutically with children, adolescents, and their families, who are struggling with severe mental health disorders. He is board-certified in adult psychiatry and child and adolescent psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
Dr. Robert-Ibarra received his medical degree from the Universidad Nacional de Asuncion, Facultad de Ciencias Medicas in Paraguay, and completed his adult psychiatry residency and child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship training at Baylor College of Medicine. He has worked in community mental health clinics in rural as well as urban areas of Texas. He has extensive experience in inpatient and outpatient settings where he is comfortable managing complex conditions using evidence-based treatment interventions. He has training in psychoanalytic informed and psychodynamic psychotherapy as well as mentalization-based treatments. Before joining the department, Dr. Robert-Ibarra spent several years as training director of the Child and Adolescent Fellowship program at the Louis A. Faillace, MD, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences part of the McGovern Medical School.
