Lisa M. Kopas is from San Antonio, Texas, where she graduated summa cum laude from the University of Texas at San Antonio. While raising a family, she attended Baylor College of Medicine graduating in 2003. She remained at Baylor for Internal Medicine Residency finishing in 2006. Dr. Kopas continued her training at Baylor with a fellowship in pulmonary and critical care medicine. During fellowship she completed research in the area of pulmonary hypertension. In recognition of her achievements, she was chosen to be the chief-fellow of the section.
Dr. Kopas considers the PCCS physicians to be her primary mentors. After working with them as a resident and then a fellow, she was invited to join the practice in July of 2009. Dr. Kopas holds board certification in internal medicine, pulmonary medicine and critical care medicine. Her areas of interest include critical care (intensive care) medicine, asthma, COPD, pleural diseases, lung cancer and ultrasonography. In addition, Dr. Kopas performs specialized/advanced bronchoscopy procedures such as endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS), electromagnetic navigation bronchoscopy and bronchial thermoplasty as well as thoracentesis.
