A native Houstonian, Dr. Libu Varughese earned his medical degree from Pushpagiri Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Center in Thiruvalla, India. He completed his internship and residency at Creighton University School of Medicine and St Joseph’s Medical Center in Phoenix, followed by a fellowship in endocrinology at Baylor College of Medicine, The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center and Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston.
In practice since 2011, Dr. Varughese is board certified in both internal medicine and endocrinology. He treats all endocrine disorders including diabetes, thyroid disease, osteoporosis, adrenal disease, low testosterone and pituitary disease. Dr. Varughese speaks Malayalam and treats patients18 years and older.
During his training, Dr. Varughese’s research focus was in diabetes medication and its effect on inflammation and endothelial dysfunction, as well as managing thyroid disease, cancer, adrenal conditions, pituitary disease and testosterone deficiency. He is a member of the American College of Clinical Endocrinologists.
Dr. Varughese’s practice style reflects an easy-going and personable manner. His patients value the fact that they feel he really cares about their health, takes his time and doesn’t rush off to the next patient.
A resident of Missouri City, Dr. Varughese loves do-it-yourself home-improvement projects, spending time with family, teaching Sunday school and working with his church’s youth ministry.
