General Surgery
Leonidas Miranda, MD, is a board-certified general surgeon who has been practicing medicine for 31 years. He received his medical degree from the University of Guayaquil in Guayaquil, Ecuador, and completed his residency in General Surgery at the Cleveland Clinic Health System in Cleveland, Ohio. He then completed 5 successful years as an assistant professor of Surgery at Texas Tech University before coming to Houston in 2009. Dr. Miranda is also a member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons (ASBrS) and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS).
He specializes in a wide variety of procedures, including hernias, gallbladder disease, gastrointestinal problems, tumors of the skin/soft tissues, and placement of venous access ports for chemotherapy. In addition to general surgery, he has clinical expertise and a special focus on the management of benign and malignant breast diseases.
Dr. Miranda is greatly involved in all aspects of managing surgical procedures – focusing on the management of his patients from the preoperative visit, to the maintenance of pain control and nutrition postoperatively. He is a compassionate physician who constantly coordinates with referring physicians and specialists, including medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, and plastic surgeons to ensure the utmost care for his patients.
When he isn’t at work, he loves spending time with his wife, daughter, and playful miniature poodle. He also enjoys engaging in one of his many hobbies, such as playing the piano, jogging, and reading about the latest updates in the car industry.
