About Me

Dr. Jeffrey L. Van Eps was born and raised in Denver, Colorado, where he completed his early education through high school. He earned his undergraduate degree in Applied Health/Pre-Med at Azusa Pacific University in Azusa, California, and a medical degree from St. Louis University School of Medicine in Missouri. He went on to complete his residency in General Surgery at Houston Methodist Hospital, where he also completed a 3-year research fellowship at the Houston Methodist Research Institute. He finished his training with a subspecialty fellowship in Colon & Rectal Surgery at the University of Minnesota.

Dr. Van Eps has presented his research widely at both regional and national levels, and authored numerous peer-reviewed publications, book chapters and essays. He continues his scholarly work as a researcher within the UT Department of Surgery, focusing on aspects of regenerative medicine, tissue engineering, and advanced surgical therapeutics/biomaterials. He is an active member of several academic surgical societies including the American College of Surgeons, American Society of Colon & Rectal Surgeons, Texas Society of Colon & Rectal Surgeons, and the Association for Academic Surgeons. As an Assistant Professor, he is involved in surgical education and clinical research. Dr. Van Eps treats patients of all ages. Known for his excellent bedside manner, he is an effective communicator who has won leadership awards and he maintains clear patient communication at the highest priority in providing exemplary patient care. In his free time he enjoys quality time with family, home improvement work, outdoor activities like golf, hiking, flyfishing, and he is an avid sportsfan.
