About Dr. Daniela Matei

I have devoted my professional life to advancing treatments for recurrent ovarian and endometrial cancer and improving outcomes of women with gynecologic malignancies."
Dr. Daniela Matei is a Professor in the Department of Hematology Oncology at Houston Methodist Hospital and the Executive Director of the Houston Methodist Neal Cancer Center. Her clinical interests are in gynecologic malignancies, including ovarian cancer, endometrial cancer, ovarian germ cell tumors, gynecological sarcomas, cervical and vulvar cancer. Dr. Matei is active in ASCO (American Society of Clinical Oncology), AACR (American Association of Cancer Research), NRG Oncology, and NCCN.
Dr Matei led many clinical trials for patients with endometrial and ovarian cancer and has published extensively on topics related to experimental therapeutics for gynecological cancers. She leads a laboratory focused on ovarian cancer research and is a Texas CPRIT Cancer Research Scholar. Dr. Matei graduated from University of Medicine and Pharmacy Carol Davila in Bucharest and completed her residency in Internal Medicine at SUNY at Stony Brook and her Hematology Oncology fellowship at UCLA. She plays an key role in cancer clinical care, translational cancer research, clinical trials and education of students, fellows, and residents.
