SUPPORTING OUR COMMUNITY THROUGH VOLUNTEERISM

In support of Houston Methodist's commitment to the I CARE values of integrity, compassion, accountability, respect and excellence, eligible employees are encouraged to take time off to volunteer at approved community organizations through I CARE in Action, the system’s official employee volunteer program. Since the program's inception, Houston Methodist employees have contributed more than 30,000 hours of volunteer time to the Greater Houston area. With more than 40 participating nonprofit partners, employees are able to give their time and talents to support the most vulnerable of our community.

You must be an active employee of Houston Methodist and have a registered volunteer profile to participate. To register as a volunteer for the program, to sign up to participate in individual or group volunteer events or to see a current list of approved community organizations, please review the tabs below. For more information, please review our Frequently Asked Questions or contact us.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Book Drive

In recognition of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s life and legacy, Houston Methodist employees are invited to participate in a week-long book drive benefiting nonprofits across Greater Houston. The drive will begin on MLK Day, Jan. 16 and end on Jan. 23.

Literacy plays a critical role in determining educational attainment and employment opportunities for individuals. Your contributions will promote literacy in youth and adults across Greater Houston.

Bins are available at campuses across the system to collect new and gently used diverse children’s, young adult, adult fiction and nonfiction books to share with our nonprofit partners. Click here for the bin locations, organizations and requested book genres accepted at your hospital.
