Andrew H. Marky, M.D., M.P.H., has joined Houston Methodist Neurological Institute and Houston Methodist The Woodlands Hospital as a neurosurgeon.

Marky’s practice includes surgeries to treat diseases and disorders of the spine, head and nervous system.  He specializes in the surgical removal of spinal and cranial tumors; the treatment of complex pain syndromes through micro-vascular decompression and peripheral nerve surgery; implantation of spinal cord stimulators for chronic pain in the lower extremities; and other surgical treatments for spinal injuries and carpal tunnel pain.

Marky received his medical degree from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry in Rochester, NY. He completed a neurological surgery internship, an enfolded surgical pain management fellowship, and a neurological surgery residency at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, NC.

“It is an honor to join Houston Methodist as this institution is known for quality,” said Marky.  “They have invested in technology resources to provide the highest quality of healthcare across the board. This is an exciting time to be in the neurosciences field as there have been big advancements in just the last five years. I look forward to working with patients and their families as well as the medical community in The Woodlands area.” In describing his approach to care, Marky said he believes it is very important to listen to the patient and empathetically observe the cues of what they are experiencing as a whole person. “My goal is to strategically apply that information with medical expertise to create an effective approach toward optimal care. From the patient’s perspective, I realize that a talk with a neurosurgeon is significant point in their life and health,” he said.
