Lisa M. Kopas is from San Antonio, Texas, where she graduated summa cum laude from the University of Texas at San Antonio. While raising a family, she attended Baylor College of Medicine graduating in 2003. She remained at Baylor for Internal Medicine Residency finishing in 2006. Dr. Kopas continued her training at Baylor with a fellowship in pulmonary and critical care medicine. During the fellowship, she completed research in the area of pulmonary hypertension. In recognition of her achievements, she was chosen to be the chief fellow of the section.

Dr. Kopas considers the PCCS physicians to be her primary mentors. After working with them as a resident and then a fellow, she was invited to join the practice in July 2009. Dr. Kopas holds board certification in internal medicine, pulmonary medicine, and critical care medicine. Dr. Kopas is ready to help with any respiratory or lung-related problems. She takes care of diseases such as asthma, COPD, lung tumors, lung nodules and fluid in the lung. She can also diagnose and treat shortness of breath and cough. If you have been found to have an abnormal chest imaging result, Dr. Kopas performs advanced bronchoscopy procedures such as endobronchial ultrasound biopsies for enlarged lymph nodes in the chest, robot-assisted navigation bronchoscopy to biopsy lung nodules and masses, and thoracentesis to drain lung fluid collections.  She is also a primary investigator in several research trials in the area of emphysema, chronic bronchitis and COPD.

 

Dr. Kopas also has an interest in the metabolic and nutritional effects in respiratory health.
