Diego C. Marines, MD, is certified by the American Board of Surgery and specializes in minimally invasive colon and rectal surgery. He completed his fellowship training in this specialty at Rutgers University. He also trained at leading world institutions in laparoscopic and robotic techniques for the treatment of colorectal diseases. During training, he was a mentor to surgical residents and medical students.
Dr. Marines is an attending surgeon for the University of Texas minimally invasive fellowship program, where he educates surgeons who have a particular interest in gaining proficiency in colorectal surgery. While practicing at Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital and the soon to open Houston Methodist The Woodlands Hospital, he established Enhanced Recovery after Colorectal Surgery (ERAS). These processes result in decreased complications, less pain, better oncological outcomes and a faster return to daily activities.
Dr. Marines is a regular on-air presenter for RADIO AMISTAD, speaking topics such as Crohn’s disease, diverticulitis, hemorrhoids, and other anorectal conditions. Both he and his staff understand that discussing colon and rectal health issues are sensitive topics for their patients and so strive to make them feel as comfortable as possible. His patients frequently compliment his unique friendly and caring demeanor.
