Caring for the Needs of Performing Artists,
Who Perform the Arts We Need.
The Center for Performing Arts Medicine (CPAM) is a complete health home for the performing artist. The only center of its kind in the country, a specialized group of over 100 physicians work collaboratively to address the specific demands placed on performing artists. Our elite physicians, spanning most specialties, care for the elite artists of the Houston Symphony, Houston Ballet, Houston Grand Opera, students from Rice University, and performing artists from around the globe.
“The mission of CPAM is to deliver specialized healthcare and wellness education of the highest quality to performing artists, to integrate the fine arts into the hospital environment, and through interventional research, to harness the effects of the arts in patient care, rehabilitation, and human performance.”
- C. Richard Stasney, MD, FACS, founder and endowed chair of CPAM
This mission is the guiding light for our pillars of focus:
- Care for Performing Artists
- Collaborative Research
- Specialized Healthcare and Wellness Education
- Arts Integration
A dedicated call center staffed by CPAM liaisons is available 24/7 to refer and schedule appointments for performing artists. The CPAM physicians and support staff recognize the artist’s need to rapidly return to the stage.
